Nacreous clouds near the McMurdo Station in Antarctica. The clouds, approximately 80,000 feet up are the highest of all clouds in a region where tempertuers are minus 100 or colder Fahrenheit. They are the polar stratoipheric clouds that contribute to the formation of the Antarctic ozone hole.
